How to Join
Becoming A Member of the Rotary Club of Georgetown, TX!
Step One - Apply for Membership:
- Complete the application for membership.
- You will be contacted by a member of our Membership Committee to review your application.
- Attend three Club Meetings and try to meet as many members as possible.
- The Membership Committee member will schedule your short interview with members of the Club’s Board of Directors.
- For two weeks after your interview, Club Members are invited to comment on your application for membership.
- You will be scheduled, along with your Rotarian Sponsor, for your Orientation and Induction.
Step Two - New Member Orientation
This program is designed for you to learn more about Rotary and for us, as a club, to learn more about you! We believe this helps you become more involved in the club and get the most out of your membership. Keep your Sponsor and Membership Chair involved on the status of your progress as you work through this program.
Step Three - Induction
You will be inducted as a new member at the first opportunity after the expiration of the two-week review period and are asked to attend your Induction along with your Rotarian sponsor.
Step Four - The Red Ribbon Program
To familiarize you with some of the many facets of our organization, all new members are asked to complete a short self-paced orientation program which we refer to as the "Red Ribbon Program". From the day you are introduced to the club, you will wear a namebadge with a red ribbon attached to it, to signify to other members that you are newly joining us! Upon completion of the program steps and delivering a short presentation to the membership during a luncheon meeting, your red ribbon will be retired and you will be welcomed into full membership!
The Red Ribbon Program steps are different if you are new to Rotary, or if you are a transferring Rotarian from another Club.
You may download whichever program applies to you:
Obligations of Membership
The Rotary year is from July 1-June 30
Monthly Dues $80
You will receive an invoice for your club dues, effective with your date of induction. Billings are issued every month, and cover the costs of meetings, lunches, Rotary International and District dues, your subscription to The Rotarian magazine, and insurance. On occasion, you may bill optional expenses to your Club account as long as it is kept in good standing. Billings are due upon receipt.
Attendance
Rotary International encourages but no longer requires 50% attendance at club meetings. Participation in committee meetings, service projects and makeup meetings with other clubs are all credited towards your attendance, so you will have ample opportunity to meet that goal. Many Rotarians strive for 100% attendance and with the ability to earn makeup meetings this is also an attainable goal.
Rotarian Transfer
Rotarians move, change jobs, and occasionally just need to find a new Club to call home! Our Club has several members that started their Rotary membership in a different club and for a variety of reasons have transferred their membership into The Rotary Club of Georgetown, TX. For our Transfer Members our process requires you to fill out the Membership Application and then work with our Membership Chair and Executive Secretary to make sure that we facilitate that transfer and give you the opportunity to retain your history and data with MyRotary! We also encourage our Transfer Members to complete the Red Ribbon Action Items and also coordinate with the Membership Chair an opportunity to attend an orientation meeting so that they can also learn about the rich history of The Rotary Club of Georgetown, Tx.
And for what it’s worth, our official club name is the Rotary Club of Georgetown, Texas as there are nearly a dozen other clubs in cities and towns called Georgetown, but we are the club where Rotary Happens!
