Libraries of Love

Trudy Marshall was a world travel and educator before she landed in Uganda in 2001. After visiting schools that had no books, the idea of providing books for students who were hungry to read became a reality. Libraries of Love was formed and the first library opened in Uganda in 2005. Sixteen years later, Uganda and Kenya have 53 well-stocked libraries. Libraries of Love also provides humanitarian aid and sponsors a student program.

Trudy has degrees in Education from OU and UT. She taught for 18 years, first in Pflugerville ISD, and then in Lithuania. She was a school librarian in Round Rock at Laurel Mountain Elementary for 10 years. Her honors include being named Teacher of the Year in Pflugerville and in Round Rock and District Teacher of the Year in Round Rock. She was the Chairman of Board at Pflugerville Community Library when the new library was constructed. In addition, she was the Sunday morning pianist at Heatherwilde Assisted Living for 17 years.

She is a member of Pflugerville Rotary Club and exemplifies the idea of Service Above Self and the Four Way Test.
