Dr. Breithaupt paints an optimistic picture of students who participate in the many sanctioned extracurricular activities (both academic and sports-related)supervised by the University Interscholastic League. Dr. Breithaupt of the UIL Aug 6, 2010 Dr. Breithaupt inspired the club with assurances that "the kids are all right." He also emphasized the advantages of involvement by students in extracurricular activities. Head of the UIL, successor to Dr. Bill Farney, Dr. Breithaupt has taken up the standard as an advocate for our schoolchildren.  View 
Mark Bottorf explains the facilities at Fountainwood observatory at SU.  They are used for research and programs of general interest by the faculty and students of the university, and are popular with community astronomy enthusiasts. Astronomy at Southwestern Jul 23, 2010 Mark Bottorf is introduced by Fred Sellers to explain the astronomy program at Southwestern University. Access to the facility by the community is permitted each month during the academic year.  View 
Ashley Brinkoeter, in charge of development at Grace Academy, tells us the history and mission of Grace Academy, a Christian, classical education institution serving our area children and youth.  We all wanted to hear more, perhaps at another meeting. Japanese GSE team charms Georgetown May 14, 2010 On of our most dynamic GSE teams ever visited Georgetown, stayed in the homes of host Rotarians and shared their culture with us. We kept them busy and celebrated in Walburg with some German-Texas culture.  View 
An impressive history of the Williamson County Sheriff's Posse was given by 2010 Sweetheart Aubrey-Ann Gilmore, together with a description of 4-H Hoofpicks, of which she is a 6-year member. Sheriffs Posse Sweetheart, Rotaract, Roll of Honor May 7, 2010 Aubrey-Ann Gilmore gave an impressive History of the Sheriff's Posse of Williamson County. The SU Rotaract Club garners over $1600 as part of the Spring Auction. Dr. Ron Swain is inducted into the Rotary Roll of Fame.  View 
The chorus includes one member aged 91. Rotary Chorus Entertains Club Apr 30, 2010 The Greater Dallas Rotary Chorus brought the club some relaxing entertainment, from Broadway show tunes to Aaron Copeland. The Chorus has been performing for 65 years!  View

Tony Thompson describes the ingenious Shelter Box, invented in Britain and used worldwide in disaster relief.  Rotarians and Scouts play a big role in their dissemination and construction around the world.  Many have made their way to Haiti. Shelter Boxes and Microcredit Explained Feb 5, 2010 A dual program this week addressed the origins and uses of "shelter boxes" in relation to the Haiti disaster and Rotary's role in delivering relief to the people of Haiti. David Laird of the Austin Heart Hospital The Heart Hospital Jan 15, 2010 David Laird, CEO of The Austin Heart Hospital, tells of the many extraordinary accomplishments of this hospital of excellence. It is #1 in the nation with the lowest mortality among its cardio-vascular patients. David is the nephew of Chuck and Dale Martin.  View

Dr. Garza accepts the recognition of the club as well as the school named for him, AND Austin I.S.D.  Gonzalo Garza honored with high school diploma Nov 13, 2009 Dr. Gonzalo Garza, Ph.D., was honored this week with a diploma from the high school named for him, Gonzalo Garza Independence High School, AISD. When a young man, Dr. Garza answered his country's call to serve in the Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific. Today, the club recognized his accomplishments in a ceremony with cake!  View

Nelson Barrett Sworn into the Texas Bar Nov 13, 2009 Nelson Barrett, a member of the New York Bar for "54 years and eleven days," passed the Texas Bar and is sworn in by Judge Stubblefield. Samoan Disaster Relief Check Presented Oct 23, 2009 District Polio Plus Chair receives a check for $1000US from President Wilson. He later presents a check to our club from his club to add to funds collected within the District for the relief totalling $1700US. These funds will go to our Samoan Rotarian counterparts to assist with recovery from the devastating Tsunami. Laura Tilrico is recognized in absentia for her efforts.  View

Dr. Warnecke explains the amazing Galt site near Florence Texas, where up to 60 percent of all North American Clovis artifacts have been found.  Hopes abound that this site will prove that humans have been in the Western Hemisphere far longer than previously supposed.
